Do You Know The 3 Types Of Self-esteem?

Do you know the 3 types of self-esteem?

Self-esteem is a very important factor in achieving our well-being. It will be fundamental for us to relate to our surroundings in a positive and healthy way. However, despite this importance, not all of us have the same self-esteem.

There are 3 types of self-esteem that can define us. This does not mean that we should fit into a single type of self-esteem, as we know that sometimes we feel more euphoric and other times more depressed. It all depends on what we are going through in our lives at the moment.

Still, you can identify the kind of self-esteem that dominates you. Which one comes up most often?

The types of self-esteem

1. Inflated self-esteem

People with inflated self-esteem think they’re better than others and don’t hesitate to devalue others. It is a very negative self-esteem, as it prevents them from establishing affectionate and healthy relationships. The competition is always present and they always want to be on top of others. For these people, happiness is in achieving success, but the truth is that they cannot be happy with that attitude.

People with inflated self-esteem are characterized by being incapable of listening to others and being self-critical. They are unable to correct their own mistakes and therefore constantly blame others. In addition, they tend to look down on the rest of people by adopting hostile behavior towards them.

These people have a hard time establishing relationships with others, as they always see them as competitors.

The types of self-esteem

Be careful that this is not false self-esteem! Perhaps, behind this eagerness to always feel the best, there is a very insecure person, with many fears that make her show herself in a way that in fact is not.

If a person with inflated self-esteem is very superficial and materialistic, they probably have a false inflated self-esteem.

2. High self-esteem

People with this kind of self-esteem accept and value themselves. It is a self-esteem seen as positive, as it makes people happy with their life. Does this imply that there will be no barriers and walls to jump over? Of course not, but confidence in yourself and the courage to face the problems that may arise make everything much easier.

Believing and trusting in yourself is what characterizes people who have this kind of self-esteem. But that doesn’t make them arrogant, and they don’t feel better than anyone else. They only have the security necessary to prevent circumstances and negative events from destabilizing them.

The types of self-esteem

However, within this high self-esteem, there are people who can be destabilized. That is, they are not able to keep this self-esteem constantly high.

What characterizes these people who need security? The aggressive or passive attitude, the refusal to accept other points of view, etc… This happens, especially in competitive contexts where insecurity becomes something impossible to face.

3. Low self-esteem

People with low self-esteem are the opposite of people with high self-esteem. They don’t value themselves, they don’t trust their possibilities, and the insecurity they feel shows up in almost any situation. Fear of failure is something that plagues and blocks people with very low self-esteem. These are examples of unhappy people.

People with low self-esteem have moments of euphoria when everything is fine, but when things start to turn around, their self-esteem drops very quickly. They are very influenceable and sensitive people, who usually show their opinion, but without defending it.

There are some people with this kind of self-esteem who are not that unstable, and their real problem is indecision. They trust themselves so little, devalue themselves, and are so afraid of deceiving themselves that they continually feel that they are not up to the task.

What kind of self-esteem predominates in your case?

Think that it is difficult to escape an inflated or low self-esteem, but if you are among the people who have a high self-esteem, even if you feel unstable at times, it is better that way! You are much closer to achieving happiness in your life if you are happy with yourself.
