The Wind Cannot Be Stopped, But We Can Build Windmills

The wind cannot be stopped, but we can build windmills

As we all know, there are certain mills that have always used the wind for some specific purpose, such as obtaining cereals, for example. They are characterized by taking advantage of the direction and force of the wind to produce force, in such a way that the energy produced is useful.

Metaphorically,  throughout our lives we are forced to build windmills that help us deal with the wind, which does not always move as we would like. In fact, many times we want to stop it and are not able to: sometimes the sight hits us in the face and prevents us from seeing clearly, other times it pushes us to where we don’t want to go.

Adversity discovers strengths that were previously unnoticed

How many times have you gotten over a tough time? It sounds like a lie, but it is real:  there is no storm that has no end and there is no wind that does not cease at some point. After the whirlpool, calm comes and the plan we draw to get out of it is of paramount importance.

When adversity takes over the days, we have the feeling of living in a constant misery that prevents us from reaching goals and being happy. It happens, for example, when an illness strikes us or we suffer a personal failure, filling us with hopelessness, sadness or impotence. No one can escape from facing adversity at some point in their lives.

Knowing that no one can escape it, you need to know that we all have a hero inside us, who grows stronger in the face of obstacles. This hero is able to glimpse lights through shadows and find strengths we thought we didn’t have.

Remember that the plane takes off against the wind

To see a point of hope amidst so much bewilderment, it  ‘s good to first learn to separate the main obstacle from all those little inconveniences that make it more difficult. Once this is done, it will be simpler to build the right windmill that will keep us in balance when blowing against the wind.

In this sense, remember that the plane takes off worse if the wind is in its direction. Airplane pilots prefer to do this by taking advantage of the power of the wind, so speed and thrust require less effort. Thus, they locate the goal and use their adverse position to their advantage.

We can do something similar if we draw on our innate capacity for resilience. In other words,  the interior of each person has the means to face a bad moment and be strengthened by its journey. Think that thanks to negative setbacks we develop tools and skills, gaining emotional balance.

Resilience helps us be positive and understand that  if we’ve gotten over the pain once, we can do it again. For this, it is good that we work with negative emotions and not try to ignore them directly as they are also necessary.   It’s okay to cry, doing that relieves us and makes us recognize that what happens to us makes us human.

the hero in you

Whatever happens,  never forget the hero we talked about before and who is in you. The one that presents itself in the form of courage and defeats all fears. The one who doesn’t let the wind drag him across the ground, but who picks up and goes on. Think that you are going to get out of this situation, that the cold will pass, because it is in your hands to resist and ward off fear: normally a lot of this fear is fantasy.

Surround yourself with other people who give you the warmth you need. The ones you can hold on tight to get over the bump. Certainly they will not leave you alone, you will feel welcomed until you find your own strength to create new goals. In the end, you’ll get to know yourself like you’ve never done before. You will be grateful and know that not even the most terrible of winds can against you.

It is in the worst cases that we learn the most from our limits. And, indeed,  there is the possibility of falling in the face of adversity, but there is also a way out of it.
